Department Culture Rec & Tourism-State Parks Opening Date 05/08/2026 Closing Date 5/22/2026 11:59 PM Central About this Job The Office of State Parks (OSP) serves the citizens of Louisiana and visitors by preserving and interpreting natural areas of unique or exceptional scenic value, planning, developing and operating sites that provide outdoor recreation opportunities in natural surroundings, preserving and interpreting historical and scientific sites of statewide importance and administering intergovernmental programs related to outdoor recreation and trails. This position is located at Fontainebleau State Park in Mandeville, LA. The purpose of this position is to provide supervision, guidance, & logistical support in the general maintenance and repairs of varied facilities, buildings, equipment, and grounds at the site. Minimum Qualifications Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience: Four years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus two years of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:
Directs skilled workers in repairing, painting, general maintenance, etc. of existing buildings and facilities at the park. Conducts scheduled inspections of buildings, grounds, vehicles, and equipment. Inspects work in progress and provides guidance to maintenance staff on job sites. Makes estimates of cost of labor and materials. Implements the execution of routine & preventative maintenance programs such as prioritization, planning, scheduling, and adjusting work projects to maximize customer service and efficient and effective operations Maintains proper inventory of supplies and equipment and performs servicing and repairs on equipment as needed. Regularly inspects property for safety and security issues including, but not limited to, non-functioning lights, trip hazards, broken fences, exposed wiring, pot holes, landscaping issues, etc. Trains staff in proper chemical and equipment usage, proper facility preparation, facility maintenance, etc. Performs any and all custodial duties as needed to maintain clean and sanitary conditions, to include but not limited to, cabins, meeting rooms, bathhouses, pavilions, etc. Assists with cleaning and disinfecting facilities, mopping, sweeping, strip linens, stock cabins, remove trash and debris, etc.

State Parks are open 365 days a year. Position will work a rotating schedule of 40 hours/week, which can include holidays and/or weekends as needed, to ensure coverage at the park.
Travel:
