Maintenance Generalist

REPORTS TO
Director of Facilities and Operations
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform general maintenance for buildings, equipment as directed.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Keeps buildings in clean and working condition by performing a variety of activities such as: Assists with complex projects in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical Maintain and repair classroom furniture, including desks, chairs, and workstations. Install and secure wall-mounted instructional fixtures such as whiteboards and projection screens. Perform minor repairs to cabinetry and millwork in specialized areas like science labs. Conduct safety inspections and minor mechanical repairs on auditorium seating and gymnasium bleachers. Interior Structural Maintenance Perform professional-grade drywall patching, sanding, and painting in high-traffic areas. Repair or replace floor tiling, baseboards, and carpet tiles to ensure a hazard-free environment. Regularly inspect and replace damaged or stained acoustic ceiling tiles. Maintain and repair interior door hardware, including closers and panic bar exit devices. Electrical & Mechanical Systems Maintain lighting systems by replacing lamps, ballasts, and LED drivers. Troubleshoot and replace faulty electrical wall switches and outlets. Address plumbing issues, including the repair of flush valves, faucets, and drinking fountains. Execute preventative HVAC maintenance, including filter changes and belt inspections. Safety & Regulatory Compliance Complete mandated monthly inspections of fire extinguishers and emergency lighting. Ensure all ADA-accessible hardware and automatic door openers are fully operational. Adhere to all safety protocols regarding hazardous materials. Strictly follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for all mechanical and electrical work. Manage and document all facility repairs through the district's work order software. Track inventory levels for common repair parts and coordinate reordering needs. Coordinate with and provide building access for specialized external contractors. Performs other duties as assigned by management or leadership. Assists with any operational needs to ensure the smooth running of the facility
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Knowledge of basic maintenance and repair techniques and procedures. Knowledge of general safety rules and techniques. Knowledge of tools and equipment used in building and grounds maintenance. Skill in performing basic maintenance and repair techniques and procedures. Skill in operating hand tools for carpentry, electrical and plumbing maintenance and repair. Skill in responding to work orders, troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical failures. Skill in communicating orally and in writing. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to perform the following physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation: critical sensory requirements include general vision, corrected to 20/20, hear or listen in the normal range (corrected) and speak and give directions clearly. Able to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, lift (exerting force up to 50 pounds), carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Subject to working in extreme temperatures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED and one (1) year general maintenance work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that provide the required knowledge and skill. Valid
AZ DPS IVP
Fingerprint Clearance card.
