Job Description

Position Description:
MAINTENANCE - PAINTER
Classification:
Non-Exempt Classified Compensation , 40 hours a week, 12 month employee
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Cleans and prepares surfaces for paint application using spray, brush and roller techniques, make repairs to various surfaces prior to painting.
Principal Duties:
Perform skilled work involving painting interiors and exteriors of new or existing buildings, furniture Perform duties in collaboration with other trades and contractors as required in order to maintain District facilities Prepare interior and exterior surfaces for painting, staining, varnishing, and finishing by stripping, sanding, grinding, patching, puttying, caulking, priming and cleaning Apply paint, stains, varnishes, lacquers or other protective and decorative coatings using brushes, rollers or spray equipment Install, repair and maintain drywall, wall texturing, and acoustic ceiling texturing. Clean graffiti from all school property Clean equipment, paint mixing area, and work areas Operate grinders, pressure washers, sandblasters, compressors, spray equipment, spray booths and other small power tools and equipment Erect various types of scaffolding, staging, ladders and planks to reach surfaces of work area for Maintain existing surfaces through matching and applying the appropriate products Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Knowledge of warehouse storage and distribution policies and practices. Knowledge of purchasing and inventory procedures and practices. Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials and application techniques Knowledge of alarm systems and other district-owned security hardware Skill in both verbal and written communication Skill in operating computer hardware and software applications. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to perform the following physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation: critical sensory requirements include general vision, corrected to 20/20, hear or listen in the normal range (corrected) and speak and give directions clearly. Able to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, lift (exerting force up to 60 pounds), carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Able to crawl, bend and work in confined spaces. Able to drive/travel in the performance of job requirements
REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
High School Diploma or GED equivalent 3 years experience as a commercial painter Valid Arizona Driver's License Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements. Valid
AZ DPS IVP
Fingerprint Clearance card. Working Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 20% walking, and 70% standing. The job is performed under with some temperature extremes and some hazardous conditions.
