Job Description

Summary:
Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and repair tasks involving buildings, facilities and grounds. This could include plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC work as well as other related maintenance and repairs as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work is performed under the general supervision of administration and the Facilities Supervisor. An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following (does not include all tasks employee may be expected to perform): Install new, repair, maintain and/or replace: Plumbing fixtures including toilets, sinks, faucets, drinking faucets, etc. Electrical fixtures including switches, sockets, light fixtures, wiring and emergency lighting systems Routine maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems Broken windows, screens and shades Doors, door hardware and locksets Furniture, desks, cabinetry, bookshelves and countertops Ceilings, including ceiling tiles and grids Flooring, including floor tiles and carpet squares Other worn out or defective items 2. Perform various general carpentry activities. 3. Operate a power saw, power mower, drill and other power tools and equipment as necessary to complete the required work. 4. Operate a truck, fork lift, and other vehicles. 5. Repair and maintain mechanical equipment as required. 6. Perform preventive maintenance tasks Lubricate machinery & equipment Change filters Inspect facilities, machinery and equipment to identify the need for repairs or updates Assist with snow removal Routine landscaping and grounds maintenance, including storm clean-up and trimming Maintain current HazMat certification. Conduct off-hours building checks Perform other general maintenance work and repairs as required. Regular and predictable in-person attendance is required for this position. Maintenance Person II will also perform more skilled maintenance or renovation tasks in the individual's particular field(s) of expertise, which may require them to work alone or as a project lead.
Examples include:
Troubleshooting and more complex repair work on HVAC systems and boilers Design and build cabinetry. Troubleshoot and repair small engines, snow plows and occasionally departmental motor vehicle issues Trouble shoot and perform more complex electrical repairs and installations, such as: Install new electrical systems related to renovation work Change breakers in panels safely Add circuits to busbars in order to wire machinery 5. Could be assigned to oversee all maintenance work for a campus.
