H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste. The Maintenance Manager provides leadership, direction, and oversight for maintenance activities across all H2C Administrative Facilities, Nuclear Facilities, and tank farm operations. This role ensures maintenance execution is safe, reliable, and compliant with DOE requirements; aligned with H2C Values; and fully integrated with Work Planning, Production Control, Projects, and Facility Operations. The Maintenance Manager is accountable for workforce leadership, maintenance performance, resource coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives, including support of the Maintenance Improvement Plan (MIP) and organizational realignment efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Leadership & Execution- Lead daily maintenance operations to ensure safe, compliant, timely, and high-quality field execution.
- Oversee craft participation, team planning expectations, work prioritization, tool crib coordination, and Field Work Supervisors (FWS) support activities.
- Ensure continued alignment with DOE O 433.

- Partner with Work Planning, Production Control, Projects/Retrieval, Facility Maintenance, and Operations to support integrated schedules and mission priorities.
- Collaborate closely with Maintenance Programs, Property Management, and Maintenance Technical Services. Program & Performance Management
- Implement and sustain maintenance improvements identified in the MIP and the Organizational Review & Efficiency Evaluation (ORE) recommendations.
- Promote a culture of accountability, ownership, and structured improvement consistent with ORE findings.
- Ensure the availability and readiness of equipment, tools, materials, and M&TE required for efficient execution. People Leadership
- Provide direct leadership to maintenance supervisors and staff; set clear expectations, mentor employees, and reinforce H2C Values.
- Support employee development, required training, and competency management consistent with the Maintenance Manager training plan. Safety, Compliance & Conduct of Operations
- Champion safe work practices and reinforce Conduct of Operations and Conduct of Maintenance standards.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with H2C procedures, DOE directives, safety requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Support facility access, hazard control programs, and coordination with SMEs (Electrical Safety, Asbestos, Hoisting & Rigging, etc.) through Maintenance Technical Services.
- Partner with HAMTC (Hanford Atomic Metal Trades Council) to promote safe and effective work environment. Required Qualifications Grade 23: BA/BS and 14+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education/experience. Grade 24: BA/BS and 15+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in industrial, utility, nuclear, or high hazard maintenance environments.
- Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate work in complex operating facilities.
- Strong understanding of DOE maintenance requirements, work control processes, and integrated planning principles.
- Ability to drive continuous improvement and lead through organizational change in alignment with MIP and ORE expectations.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in Maintenance, Work Planning, Production Control, or facility operations.
- Previous experience in or understanding of DOE O433.1 and 430.1.
- Maintenance, Work Planning, Production Control, or facility operations.
- Familiarity with tank farm systems, DFLAW/ETF operations, outage planning, or maintenance management systems.
