How you will make history here... The Maintenance Planner is responsible for coordinating, planning, and managing all non‑emergency maintenance work to ensure maximum equipment reliability, asset health, and operational efficiency. This role owns the end‑to‑end maintenance planning process, including work identification, prioritization, material readiness, scheduling, execution follow‑up, and closure. As the central point of coordination between Maintenance, Operations, Storeroom, Engineering, and external resources, the Maintenance Planner ensures maintenance work is properly scoped, planned in advance, and executed efficiently. This includes preventive maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance, corrective work, and support for major outages or turnaround events. Success in this role is measured by increased planned work, reduced reactive and break‑in maintenance, improved equipment uptime, optimized labor utilization, and consistent execution of work safely, on time, and with the right resources in place. What you will do... The Maintenance Planner is responsible for the following key accountabilities: Maintain a structured and reliable system for tracking all maintenance work orders, ensuring clear visibility to backlog, priorities, aging, and execution status. Own the full work order lifecycle within SAP, including creation, planning, scheduling, execution tracking, and closure. Review, evaluate, and prioritize incoming maintenance requests, converting notifications into fully planned work orders with defined scope, labor estimates, material requirements, and safety considerations. Investigate maintenance requests to determine required manpower, skill sets, tools, spare parts, and estimated duration to complete work effectively and safely. Create, issue, and schedule all preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, inspections, and other pre‑planned maintenance activities. Develop, review, and continuously improve preventive maintenance procedures to ensure effectiveness, reduce equipment failures, and eliminate unnecessary or low‑value tasks. Partner closely with Maintenance Supervisors, Technicians, and Operations to build and maintain a proactive weekly maintenance schedule aligned with production and business needs. Ensure all non‑emergency maintenance work is properly planned and scheduled in advance to support efficient labor utilization and minimize disruption to operations. Monitor, manage, and report maintenance backlog, ensuring work is appropriately prioritized, aged, and prevented from becoming stagnant or unmanaged. Confirm all materials, spare parts, and special tools are identified, sourced, staged, and available prior to scheduling work to avoid execution delays. Maintain working knowledge of purchase order and requisition processes; initiate, track, and follow up on purchase requests as required. Collaborate with the storeroom to monitor spare parts inventory levels, identify critical components, and reduce equipment downtime risk due to material shortages. Leverage SAP and CMMS data to identify trends, recurring failures, and systemic issues; escalate concerns and recommend corrective or long‑term solutions for chronic equipment problems. Drive planning discipline by ensuring reactive and break‑in work is minimized and planning standards are consistently followed. Coordinate maintenance work across all sources, including Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and external vendors, to ensure alignment and efficiency. Recommend cost‑effective maintenance solutions that optimize internal labor and minimize external spend when appropriate. Coordinate scope definition, scheduling, execution, and follow‑up with external vendors and contractors as required. Support the planning and execution of plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and major maintenance events. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety, food safety, quality, GMP, OSHA, and regulatory requirements. Promote and reinforce the use of proper PPE, safe work practices, and hazard awareness at all times. Promptly report equipment issues, safety concerns, quality risks, and incidents in accordance with plant procedures. Maintain a high level of organization, accuracy, and attention to detail in all planning activities, documentation, and SAP entries. Work independently while maintaining effective communication, alignment, and collaboration with cross‑functional partners. Participate in safety initiatives, continuous improvement efforts, and plant‑driven programs as assigned. Maintain flexibility to support overtime, outage support, or off‑shift planning needs when required. Perform other related duties as assigned. Who you will work with... Reporting to our Maintenance Manager What you will bring to the table... (Must Have) High school diploma or GED required. 3+ years of experience in maintenance planning, maintenance coordination, reliability, or maintenance support within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, for planning, tracking, and reporting. It would be great if you have... (Nice to Have) Bachelors or Associates Degree 5+ years of Maintenance experience within food manufacturing Advanced experience using SAP PM, including notification review, work order planning, scheduling, backlog management, and reporting.
Compensation and Benefits:
The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between $60,500
  • 86,900 Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
