The Vespel® business is seeking a Maintenance & Reliability Engineer / Automation Engineer at our Valley View & Stow, Ohio locations. Key Responsibilities Serve in a blended role spanning Maintenance & Reliability and Automation Engineering. Develop, maintain, and execute the site maintenance and reliability and automation strategies. Partner with manufacturing and operations teams to solve equipment reliability and automation challenges. Develop and implement proposals, improvements, and control plans to address identified maintenance gaps. Identify reliability "bad actors" and lead initiatives to improve reliability performance Develop and maintain maintenance procedures, control plans, and critical spare parts strategies. Maintain the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Assist maintenance mechanics with technical troubleshooting and provide technical guidance/coaching. Assist maintenance with sourcing replacement and spare parts as needed. Provide coaching, training, and support to mechanics in preventative-predictive maintenance programs (lubrication, vibration, thermography, etc.). Provide operator coaching and support for machinery controls and aid maintenance mechanics in troubleshooting machine controls. Champion machine safety and design/implement safe automated processes. Justify, lead, and execute capital projects Participate in Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR). Conduct root cause failure analysis and equipment performance evaluations. Lead the site
PSM MIQA
(Mechanical Integrity & Quality Assurance) program and maintain documentation. Engage in site and network-level reliability, maintenance, and MIQA initiatives. Develop and deliver technical documentation and presentations. Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams. Qualifications B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. 1+ year of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of machine electrical systems, controls, automation, CNC equipment, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience with PLC/HMI programming, data historians, PID control, robotics, machine vision, and automated inspection is preferred. Familiarity with industry standards, best practices, and safety regulations. Knowledge of preventive-predictive maintenance methodologies (lubrication, vibration, thermography, etc.) Ability to interpret and create electrical schematics and technical drawings. Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and Excel. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret technical data. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and timelines independently. Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills. Experience with project management, planning, and execution. Continuous learning mindset with the ability to expand technical expertise. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across all plant levels.
