Maintenance Staff

Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Maintenance Staff member to join our dynamic team. Effective oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of hospital maintenance and the operation and repair of mechanical equipment is preferred. C.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Duties of the position require moderate periods of walking, sitting, and standing. Some pushing and pulling carts/equipment, bending, stooping, and reaching are required with the lifting of items up to a weight of 50 pounds. The ability to comprehend and follow routine written or verbal instructions or directions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Landscapes hospital grounds. Prepares lawns and beds for planting. Selects and obtains plants, trees, seed, and fertilizers used in planting and yard maintenance. Plants lawns and beds. B. Maintains hospital grounds. Mows, edges, fertilizes, and irrigates lawn areas. Cultivates, replants, fertilizes, and irrigates beds. Prunes, fertilizes, and irrigates trees and shrubs. Collects trash and other debris and disposes of it in the appropriate collection area. C. Operates and maintains groundskeeping equipment. Operates tractor, pickup truck, mowers, and other various yard and maintenance equipment. Performs minor maintenance on equipment and advises the maintenance mechanic of major problems. D. Requests and stocks groundskeeping supplies. Assists in determining fertilizer needs and stock levels. Recommends small grounds keeping tools needed and controls their storage and use. E. Performs duties as directed to assist in the maintenance and repair of hospital buildings. Paints interior and exterior walls, ceilings, and trim using brushes, rollers, or sprayers. Moves and assembles scaffolding used in painting or repair work. Assists in carpentry repair and minor construction projects as directed by supervisor. Performs helper duties for electrical, mechanical, or refrigeration installation or repair projects. F. Sorts and stocks supplies and equipment. Places supplies and equipment received into proper storage areas. Helps perform accountability and record keeping on supplies and equipment. G. Promotes an accident and hazard-free, safe work environment. Functions as the key safety advisor to the Administrator. Assures that all new personnel are oriented to the Safety Management Program and that all personnel participate in continuing safety education and training. Promotes hazard identification and accident prevention as a part of every employee's job.
