Summary:
Under supervision of the Associate Executive Director, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and oversight of maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance operations for Tribal housing, facilities, and infrastructure. This position ensures that all work is performed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and Tribal policies. The Maintenance Supervisor provides direct leadership to assigned maintenance staff, establishes preventative maintenance programs, and ensures consistent quality control to support safe, functional, and well-maintained facilities.
Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and oversee all maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance activities. Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all facilities and housing units. Assign and monitor work to ensure completion in a timely, efficient, and safe manner. Inspect facilities regularly to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and compliance requirements. Ensure all work is completed in accordance with applicable building codes, safety standards, and Tribal policies. Establish work priorities and coordinate labor, materials, and equipment to meet operational needs. Review completed work to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to established standards. Estimate materials, labor, and timelines for maintenance and minor construction projects. Perform or oversee skilled work in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general maintenance as needed. Maintain inventory control of tools, equipment, and supplies. Prepare and maintain accurate reports, records, and maintenance logs. Respond to emergency maintenance issues and ensure timely resolution. Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and training of staff. Promote and enforce safe work practices and ensure compliance with safety requirements. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and effective working relationships with staff, residents, and the public. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of building maintenance trades including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry. Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and maintenance standards. Strong leadership and supervisory skills. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents. Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple assignments simultaneously. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to estimate materials, labor, and project timelines. Ability to operate tools and equipment safely and effectively. Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including Tribal communities.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required. Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance, construction, or building trades. One (1) year of supervisory experience required. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. OSHA-30 Certification required. Trade certifications in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC preferred. Must possess a valid Nevada Driver's License. Must successfully pass background check. Must pass a preemployment drug test. Must be insurable under YPTHA Insurance policy.
