Metals USA is seeking a 3rd Shift Maintenance Technician for our Horicon, WI location. Metals USA is a leading metals processor/distributor in North America, providing a wide range of carbon steel products and services. Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Dismantles machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists Reassembles machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work Starts machines and observes mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems Inspects or tests damaged machine parts, and marks defective areas or advises supervisor of repair needs Lubricates or applies adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures Installs, replaces, or changes machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications Records production, repair, and machine maintenance information Reads maintenance repair work orders and specifications to determine machine and equipment requiring repair or maintenance Sets up and operates machines, and adjust controls to regulate operation Collaborates with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment Maintains equipment files and orders spare-parts inventory on service center equipment and work effectively with operations to implement a preventive maintenance program to improve equipment uptime (or reliability) May occasionally drive company motor vehicle (non-DOT) for local pick-up for parts Comply with all safety regulations and procedures Maintain a clean and orderly work area and promote the same throughout the facility Perform highly diverse duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service Perform basic machinist duties and responsibilities Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and make adjustments Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities as prescribed in the preventative/predictive maintenance plan Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines. Must have Vocational/Trade School education in electrical/mechanical work or Journey-level experience equivalent Basic measuring skills to read and convert English and Metric systems Able to read and write, speak English Able to lift up to 50lbs. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook, etc. Minimum one (1) year experience in general maintenance repair work Experience on overhead crane operation desired Must possess a Valid Driver's License Requires a competent technical aptitude, demonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination Position requires availability for emergency call-outs to come in and repair equipment as needed in the evenings and/or weekends
