Preventative Maintenance and Calibration TechnicianJob Description The Preventative Maintenance and Calibration Technician operates, troubleshoots, and repairs complex facility utility systems in a dynamic, state-of-the-art environment. This role focuses on preventative maintenance and calibration of critical equipment supporting manufacturing and laboratory operations, ensuring reliability, safety, and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards where applicable. The technician works closely with facilities and engineering teams across a multi-building campus and contributes directly to the smooth operation of utilities such as purified water, clean steam, and HVAC systems. Responsibilities Operate, troubleshoot, and repair complex utility systems with minimal supervision, ensuring reliable and efficient operation. Perform preventative maintenance and calibration on facility equipment in accordance with established procedures and schedules. Support and maintain systems such as WFI (Water for Injection), RODI (Reverse Osmosis Deionized) water, clean steam, CIP (Clean-In-Place), autoclaves, glassware washers, production vessels, HVAC systems, cold and warm rooms, electrical distribution, control systems, compressed gases, plant steam and condensate, bulk chemical distribution, and wastewater treatment equipment. Install, relocate, and decommission equipment, including work performed under and above hoods, while following safety and procedural requirements. Coordinate and communicate effectively with facilities and engineering teams to plan work, minimize downtime, and resolve issues in a timely manner. Diagnose mechanical and utility system issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Document maintenance and calibration activities accurately and completely, supporting GMP expectations where applicable. Climb ladders and access equipment at various heights to perform inspection, maintenance, and repair tasks. Move and position equipment and components weighing up to 50 pounds safely and in compliance with ergonomic guidelines. Navigate and move throughout a multi-building campus to access, service, and decommission equipment assets as needed. Follow written procedures and directions carefully to ensure consistent, safe, and compliant work practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement of maintenance processes and equipment reliability. Essential Skills 5-10 years of experience in mechanical or maintenance roles within facilities, semiconductor environments, chemical plants, or data centers. Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience maintaining and repairing complex utility systems. Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair systems such as purified water (WFI/RODI), clean steam, CIP, autoclaves, glassware washers, production vessels, HVAC, and related utilities. Understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environments and the impact of maintenance activities on compliance and product quality. Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Capability to climb ladders, work under and above hoods, and safely move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with facilities and engineering teams. Ability to follow directions and adhere to standard operating procedures and safety guidelines. Additional Skills & Qualifications GMP experience preferred but not required; willingness to learn and operate within GMP guidelines. Prior experience as a maintenance technician in facilities, semiconductor, chemical plant, or data center environments is highly desirable. Go-getter attitude with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving equipment issues. Comfort working with cross-functional teams and contributing to a collaborative, solutions-focused culture. Licenses are not required; relevant certifications or training in mechanical systems, utilities, or industrial maintenance are considered a plus. Comfort navigating large or multi-building campuses to access and service equipment. Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, technical environment. Work Environment This role is based on-site in a state-of-the-art, multi-building facility located in Framingham, Massachusetts, and is offered as a contract position. The technician works in a dynamic technical environment that includes manufacturing, laboratory, and utility areas equipped with systems such as
WFI/RODI
water, clean steam, CIP, autoclaves, glassware washers, production vessels, HVAC, cold and warm rooms, electrical distribution, control systems, compressed gases, plant steam and condensate, bulk chemical distribution, and wastewater treatment systems. The position requires regular movement throughout the campus to access, maintain, and decommission equipment, including climbing ladders and working under and above hoods. Work may involve exposure to mechanical equipment, utilities, and industrial environments where adherence to safety procedures is essential. The dress code is professional casual, appropriate for a technical and collaborative setting, with additional personal protective equipment provided and required as dictated by specific tasks and areas. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Framingham, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
