Maintenance Technician Primary Purpose and Function The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive, predictive, and general maintenance on production equipment, machinery, and facility systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability. This role supports continuous manufacturing operations by conducting routine inspections, troubleshooting equipment issues, and performing repairs in a timely and efficient manner. The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, extending equipment life, and maintaining a safe, clean, and functional work environment in alignment with Schmid Tool & Engineering's operational standards and safety expectations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Under minimal supervision, troubleshoot, install, repair, and maintain equipment and facility systems in accordance with machine manuals, blueprints, schematics, and applicable building codes.Maintain and repair:
Physical structures Electrical wiring and systems Plumbing systems and fixtures Motors and engines CNC machinery Electrical and pneumatic systems PLC-controlled equipment Assist senior-level maintenance personnel with complex repairs and projects. Perform preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled maintenance activities on production and facility equipment. Ensure all company policies, procedures, and safety practices are consistently followed to reduce the risk of injury and equipment damage. Support facility and grounds maintenance as needed. Fabricate minor machine parts, guards, brackets, and other maintenance-related components. Respond to maintenance requests and equipment breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner. Maintain maintenance logs, records, and documentation as required. Occasionally use personal vehicles for the pickup and delivery of machine parts or maintenance supplies, when necessary. Maintain clean and organized maintenance work areas and tools. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety. Perform additional maintenance and facility-related duties as assigned by supervisors or management in support of organizational and operational goals. Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Skills and Qualifications Strong knowledge of: Motors and engines Single-phase and three-phase electrical systems Pneumatic systems PLC systems General mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities. Computer literacy and ability to use maintenance-related software and systems. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong initiative and commitment to achieving departmental and company objectives. Effective interpersonal communication and teamwork skills. Ability to apply continuous improvement concepts and troubleshooting techniques. Ability to perform diversified maintenance and repair tasks. Demonstrated customer service mindset through responsiveness and follow-through on maintenance requests and operational needs. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs throughout the workday. Ability to use hands and arms to handle tools, equipment, and maintenance materials. Ability to occasionally lift, move, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in manufacturing and industrial environments with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, noise, dust, oils, and varying temperatures.Visual abilities required include:
