Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician performs mechanical and electrical maintenance on a variety of production equipment, including injection molding machines and metal fabrication machinery. This role focuses on both preventative and corrective maintenance, ensuring equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently. The technician diagnoses issues, repairs hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and carries out electrical work up to 480V while interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics. Responsibilities + Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance on production equipment such as injection molding machines, wire forming machines, waterjet and laser tables, manual brake presses, and saws. + Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend the life of machines and equipment. + Perform corrective maintenance and troubleshooting to quickly resolve equipment malfunctions and failures. + Repair, replace, and adjust hydraulic systems, including hoses, valves, cylinders, and pumps. + Repair, replace, and adjust pneumatic systems, including air lines, valves, cylinders, and related components. + Carry out electrical maintenance tasks, including rewiring motors, replacing sensors, and repairing wiring and control components. + Work safely with 3-phase motors and electrical systems up to 480V. + Read, interpret, and apply information from electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to complete repairs and installations. + Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential issues and recommend or perform necessary repairs. + Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize work orders and minimize disruption to operations. + Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used to support accurate maintenance records. + Follow all safety procedures and lockout/tagout practices when working on machinery and electrical systems. Essential Skills + Experience as a maintenance technician performing both mechanical and electrical maintenance on industrial equipment. + 2-3 years of maintenance experience on injection molding machinery or similar industrial machines. + Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair. + Hands-on experience with pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair. + Electrical maintenance experience working with wiring, motors, and sensors. + Ability to work safely with 3-phase motors and electrical systems up to 480V. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings. + Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues. + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple maintenance tasks. + Solid understanding of industrial safety practices, including working around job shop machinery Work Environment The setting is a job shop environment with a variety of machinery, including injection molding equipment, wire forming machines, waterjet and laser tables, manual brake presses, and saws, so you must feel comfortable working around active industrial equipment. The position is a first-shift role, Monday through Friday, with primarily 40 hours per week, typically from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The facility emphasizes safety and organized work practices, and tools needed for the job are provided on site. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Rockdale, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00- $30.00/hr.
