Superior Skilled Trades is seeking a Maintenance Technician, Instrumentation & Controls for an immediate start!
Pay:
$32-$40/hour + $3/hr shift differential

3rd Shift (10:00 PM - 6:30 AM) | 40 hours weekly | Weekends as needed

Aurora, IL Job Description:
This role is responsible for performing preventive and reactive maintenance to support manufacturing operations on 3rd shift. The Maintenance Technician I will execute PM schedules, troubleshoot and repair production equipment, and ensure maximum uptime and reliability of plant machinery. The position requires strong mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting abilities, along with the flexibility to work independently during overnight operations and respond to equipment issues in real time.
Responsibilities:
Execute preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and perform reactive repairs on production equipment Troubleshoot and repair machinery including blenders, fillers, cappers, labelers, palletizers, conveyors, case erectors, case sealers, and stretch wrappers Diagnose and repair AC/DC motors, drives, and related electrical systems Troubleshoot PLC I/O, controls, and basic networking issues Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic drawings Perform electrical testing using voltmeters, ammeters, ohm meters, Megger, and other diagnostic tools Apply Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Arc Flash, and PPE safety procedures Support continuous improvement and process reliability initiatives Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions on equipment failures Maintain CMMS records (PMs, work orders, and repair documentation) Order replacement parts and coordinate with vendors as needed Assist with equipment inspections and preventive maintenance planning Support production teams to ensure safe and reliable operations Mentor and assist other maintenance personnel and operators as needed Work independently during 3rd shift while maintaining safety and production standards Perform other duties as assigned
Additional Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required 4+ years industrial maintenance experience preferred Experience with packaging and production equipment required Strong electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills Basic PLC and drive knowledge required (servo/VFD experience preferred) Must have own hand tools Experience with Microsoft Office and CMMS systems (SAP preferred) Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and on a team Food, GMP/HACCP, or packaging industry experience preferred Drug screen required (6-panel oral or 5-panel urinalysis via FADV) Background check required (First Advantage) Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed Training may occur on first shift for 2-3 weeks before transitioning to 3rd shift We are an Equal Opportunity Employer!
