Job Description
Summary of Functions:
Perform a variety of highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, maintain and overhaul production and facility equipment. Responsible for general building repairs throughout the office, production area, warehouse, and distribution center.Responsibilities:
Conduct machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance service. Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance/repairs of production equipment during machine service. Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities. Perform standard/typical mechanic skills on equipment including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and troubleshooting and repair of production machines. Read and interpret equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Able to wire motors for 208, 230, and 480 VAC and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and DC drives. Diagnose and anticipate problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments. Perform regularly scheduled/preventive maintenance on bearings, drive chains, conveyor systems, machines, equipment and plant facilities. Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions a plus. Use a variety of hand and power tools, drill presses, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties. Detect faulty operations/defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. Follow company safety and lockout/tagout guidelines to ensure guards are in place and that power is shut off when repairing equipment. Utilize interpersonal skills to coordinate with other departments. Ensure tools and equipment are stored in safe areas, e.g. not in walkways or exit doors, and are placed at safe heights. Report defective materials and equipment and/or questionable conditions to the Maintenance Manager and Production Supervisor when applicable. Document maintenance/preventive maintenance results through completed work orders based on the schedule or necessary priority as required. Organize maintenance shop and tool/parts crib for orderliness at all times. Ensure maintenance shop and tool/parts crib are accessible and safe for pedestrians. Follow all required safety procedures/guidelines and perform in a manner that protects the health and safety of all employees. Wear proper safety equipment when applicable at all times. Instruct and direct any maintenance trainees assigned. Work flexible schedule including occasional weekends, overtime and off shifts. Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Working knowledge of motors, drives AC & DC, mechanical equipment, facilities maintenance and basic plumbing. Excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills, able to troubleshoot mechanical motors, gear boxes, drive trains. Troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, inverters, VFDs, DC drives and electrical and electronic systems. Electrical trouble shooting and installations, wiring motors for 208, 230, and 480 VAC. Knowledge of OSHA requirements. Knowledge of company safety requirements. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, suppliers, and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to perform work in standardized situations with only occasional, few or no variables. Certified to use lift equipment. Ability to follow work instructions and PM check list and fill out all corresponding paperwork for ISO and PM compliance. Education/Experience High school diploma or general education degree is required; Three years or more of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Extensive walking Occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs Occasional pushing of paper rolls that may weigh up to 450 lbs. onto press shafts Must pass color blindness test. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.Job Type:
