RECEIVED.Under the direction of the Building Maintenance Supervisor, perform a wide variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of District facilities and equipment; assist skilled trades personnel in the performance of a variety of duties related to the building trades.EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and three years increasingly responsible building maintenance experience in a number of the trades.LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid California driver's license.SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION KNOWLEDGE OF
Standard tools, equipment, materials, methods and techniques used in general construction, maintenance and repair.Operation and proper maintenance of tools, equipment and machinery used in the building trades.
Requirements of maintaining buildings and equipment in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
Preventive maintenance principles and practices.
Welding equipment, metals and techniques.
Basic principles of heating and air conditioning systems.
Basic principles and operation of electrical motors and pumps.
Use of hand and power tools used in maintenance and repair.
Appropriate health and safety precautions and procedures.
Proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies.
Basic record-keeping techniques.
ABILITY TO
Perform a wide variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of District facilities and equipment involving two or more of the building trades.Assist skilled personnel in the performance of assigned duties.
Safely operate power equipment, including welding equipment.
Learn and apply laws, rules, regulations involved in assigned maintenance activities.
Analyze maintenance problems and determine repair needs.
Effectively and safely operate a variety of assigned tools and equipment.
Read, understand and work from blueprints, schematics, shop drawings and sketches.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Maintain routine records related to work performed.
Climb ladders, work at heights, bend, push, pull and lift objects weighing up to 60 pounds. Work cooperatively with others.
Operate a District vehicle and observe legal and defensive driving practices.
