Job Description

Operates tractors, mowers, trimmers, trucks and other vehicles, equipment and tools Performs minor and preventative maintenance on equipment and City facilities Contacts and coordinates with contractors and other government agencies to perform maintenance, repairs or minor construction projects Shovels dirt, gravel, and/or asphalt; tamps, packs and levels dirt, gravel, asphalt and/or other material to repair and maintain City streets and drainage system Installs and removes street signs, barricades and cones and monitors traffic control systems Must be able to work closely with other departmental personnel as part of a team Observes and corrects park issues including property damage, graffiti removal, playground safety checks/maintenance, cleaning restrooms and landscape maintenance Assist with removing and properly disposing of deceased animals Maintains assigned vehicle(s) in a clean, safe and operable condition Utilizes maintenance equipment to perform maintenance duties which may include sweeping or cleaning streets and stormwater channel, maintaining shrubs and flowers, clearing weeds and brush, mowing and trimming public areas, tree maintenance to include trimming/pruning, and performing custodial duties in public areas.
Qualifications:
Formal or informal education or training that ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance One (1) year of experience in labor or maintenance Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License Required to rotate on-call after hours status with other employees May be subject to call back status during Emergency Management situations per the City Administrator s or the Emergency Management Coordinator s direction Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed including overtime, weekends, holidays, and evenings
