JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Worker I - Athletics performs general maintenance and support activities for athletic fields and park facilities to ensure safe, clean, and functional recreational spaces. This position assists with routine groundskeeping, basic field preparation, and event setup while supporting the overall operations of the Parks and Recreation Department. This role contributes to daily maintenance activities and provides support for athletic events, tournaments, and community use of park facilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Athletic Field Maintenance Assists with maintenance of athletic fields including infields, base paths, and turf areas following established procedures. Supports field preparation activities such as dragging, lining, and general setup for athletic events and practices. Performs routine inspections and reports maintenance needs or safety concerns to supervisors. Groundskeeping and Landscaping Performs general grounds maintenance including mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, and trash removal. Assists with maintaining park cleanliness, including restroom cleaning and facility upkeep as needed. Supports seasonal maintenance activities such as leaf removal and basic landscaping tasks. Equipment Operation and Maintenance Operates basic maintenance equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools. Performs routine care and cleaning of tools and equipment to ensure safe and effective operation. Reports damaged or malfunctioning equipment to supervisors. Event and Operational Support Assists with setup and teardown for athletic events, practices, and community activities. Helps with placement of equipment, signage, and materials needed for field use and events. Works assigned schedules that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs. Communication and Team Support Follows instructions from supervisors and works collaboratively with team members to complete assigned tasks. Communicates maintenance issues, safety concerns, and work progress to appropriate staff. Maintains a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with coworkers and the public. Performs additional duties as assigned that fall within the scope of the job functions.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

The candidate must have a valid, US driver's license; This position may require the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet field

Pay:

$17.47 - $25.33 per hour
