PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Maintenance Worker performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and improvement of school buildings, and equipment as well as maintaining the grounds. This position helps to ensure that all school facilities and grounds are safe, clean, and well-maintained to support the daily operations and educational mission of the school division.
QUALIFICATIONS
Be at least 21 years of age. Be able to pass an employee background check. Have good work ethic and time management skills. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Possess working knowledge of building systems, maintenance techniques, and repair procedures. Have ability to operate tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and effectively. Possess ability to read and interpret work requests and manuals. Possess strong problem-solving skills. Have ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently or as part of a team. Have ability to operate and maintain landscaping tools, including but not limited to lawn mowers, blowers, hedge trimers, as well as larger machinery including tractors, utility vehicles, snowblowers, and box truck. Have commitment to maintaining a safe and clean learning environment for students and staff. Be able to lift up to 50 pounds, perform manual labor, and work in various weather conditions. Be able to stand, walk, and/or bend for extended periods of time; climb ladders; and operate machinery or vehicles. Be able to work in a sometimes stressful environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes. Job may require working evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed.

According to Maintenance Worker Salary Scale, depending on experience

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform general maintenance and repair facilities and equipment, including light carpentry, painting, light plumbing, and general upkeep. Assist in preventive maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and efficient operation of building systems and equipment. Complete work requests in a timely, efficient, and professional manner. Assemble, move, and install furniture, fixtures, and classroom equipment as needed. Maintain school grounds, including mowing, trimming, edging, and weeding lawns; planting and pruning trees, shrubs, and flowers; and assisting with snow and ice removal, leaf collection, and debris cleanup. Assist with setup and teardown for school events, meetings, and activities. Follow established safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Work collaboratively with custodial staff, contractors, and other maintenance personnel. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Performance of this job will be evaluated according to division guidelines.
