Manager, Engineering Technician Service (DOT/D4 #19300)

Posting Details New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) provides a safe and efficient transportation system for the traveling public while promoting economic development and preserving New Mexico's environment. Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two (2) weeks of closing date. As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive three (3) days of administrate leave upon your start date. This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government. Why does the job exist? The purpose of this position is to assist the project manager by supervising and coordinating technicians and administering highway construction projects. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws. Also, may serve as a technician in one or more of the following: advanced field inspections, project documentation, quality assurance, and office management. May require certification through Technician Training and Certification Program (TTCP) administered through the Associated Contractors of New Mexico and maintain re-certification. Position may be subject to work in different project areas within District Four. How does it get done? Position will assist the project manager in supervising engineering technicians and will execute policies and procedures that will be in compliance with the project contracts, plans, standard specifications for highway and bridge construction, federal and state guidelines and standard serial drawings and to construct a quality and safe roadway system for the traveling public. Minimum Qualification High School Diploma or equivalent and ten (10) years of relevant experience, six (6) months of which must be supervisory or senior level experience managing projects or assignments. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling ten (10) years may substitute for the required experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Employment requires successful completion of post offer pre-employment physical exam and is conditional pending results. Business/Personal Reference check and Driver's License verification are required and employment is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed in office/field in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, humidity, wind, rain, and snow.

' Sunlight, dust, pollen, chemicals, rough/rugged terrain, insects and reptiles, noxious plants and infected trash; exposure to ' Moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, toxic fumes/chemicals and/or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals and/or asphalt and petroleum products; ' Highway speed/high volume traffic and loud noises; ' Falls and bruises, considerable physical strain; ' Heavy lifting; sitting/standing, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling for extended periods of time may be required. Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work may also include being performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage to include working with faxes, copiers and printers. May be required to work irregular hours or emergencies on short notice; willingness to accept change or geographical assignments; interaction with the public, local, county schools and city officials by phone and in person.
