Position Objective The Manager of Technical Training is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading comprehensive technical training programs that support workforce development across Michels Power, Inc. This role partners closely with field leadership and subject matter experts to ensure employees are equipped with the technical knowledge, safety awareness, and practical skills needed to succeed in demanding construction environments. Key Responsibilities Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring all training aligns with company and regulatory standards Lead, manage, and develop a team of trainers and facilitators, including hiring, coaching, and performance management Develop and execute a strategic training plan aligned with organizational goals and workforce needs Partner with operations, field leadership, and subject matter experts to identify skills gaps and prioritize training initiatives Design, update, and deliver training materials including manuals, presentations, and hands-on learning experiences Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and seminars in both in-person and virtual environments Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics, adjusting programs as needed Coordinate with external training partners, industry organizations, and educational institutions Manage training budgets, scheduling, and resources to ensure efficient and cost-effective program delivery Mentor and coach trainers to ensure consistent, high-quality instruction and engagement Stay current on construction techniques, technologies, and regulatory requirements to maintain program relevance Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience 7-10+ years of relevant experience in training, construction, or workforce development Proven experience designing and delivering technical training programs Strong leadership and team management capabilities Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Preferred Qualifications Experience with Michels Power, Inc. or similar contractor Strong knowledge of construction, power delivery, or electrical infrastructure industries Experience supporting field-based or craft workforce training programs Managerial Developmental Competencies Decision Quality Cultivates Innovation Resourcefulness Directs Work Ensures Accountability Collaborates Manages Conflict Attracts, Develops, and Retains Talent Builds Effective Teams Drives Engagement Managerial Courage Being Resilient Situational Adaptability Work Environment & Physical Demands Primarily performed in a climate-controlled office environment with periodic field exposure Occasional work in outdoor construction environments and varying weather conditions Travel required to support training delivery and field operations Physical requirements include: Frequent sitting, with periodic standing and movement Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds Vision requirements include close focus and ability to adjust Why Michels Power, Inc.?
