Job Description:
Are you a benefits expert who thrives on owning programs end to end, driving compliance and consistency across a multi-state workforce, and leading through influence in a lean, fast-moving HR environment? This is a hands-on Total Rewards Manager role with a strong benefits focus - you'll own the full benefits function while also supporting compensation initiatives as you build broader total rewards capability over time. You'll partner closely with a Director of Total Rewards to keep a well-established benefits program running smoothly, take it to the next level, and contribute to compensation structure as the organization continues to grow. The role is fully onsite in Chicago's south suburbs. What your day will look like: Own and manage all aspects of benefits administration - medical, dental, vision, retirement, and leave of absence - across a multi-state, multi-country employee population Lead vendor relationships and full-cycle renewals, including working with self-funded medical and dental plans and managing STD claims administration Navigate complex, multi-state LOA administration, including in-house compliance and consistency across 20+ states Partner with HRIS and payroll to manage eligibility files, discrepancy reports, and system integrations Provide oversight, coaching, and accountability to a Benefits Coordinator Support compensation benchmarking, job descriptions, and pay structure maintenance as a secondary area of ownership Why we love this role: True ownership of a mature, well-structured benefits program with real room to improve and modernize Stable, process-driven organization with a leadership team that values consistency and compliance Exposure to a diverse and complex employee population across the U.S. and Canada Collaborative HR environment where your expertise will be recognized and relied upon A compensation component that lets you grow your total rewards skill set without being thrown in the deep end What you'll need: 5-8+ years of experience in benefits or total rewards, with deep expertise in benefits administration and strategy Hands-on experience managing self-funded medical and dental plans, vendor relationships, and full-cycle renewals Strong working knowledge of multi-state LOA administration and compliance (FMLA, state leave laws, etc.) Experience partnering with HRIS systems on eligibility, reporting, and data integrity Comfort managing and developing direct reports, with a track record of driving accountability Foundational exposure to compensation - benchmarking, salary structures, or annual cycles - is a plus
