Job Description

Prion Manufacturing is a leading producer of Precision Machined Machine Products, specializing in high-volume machining for a wide variety of industries. Since 1955, we've been dedicated to turning our customers' designs into custom manufacturing solutions. We are seeking a Manufacturing Controls Engineer to support high‑volume CNC and other machining operations. This position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving PLC‑controlled manufacturing equipment and supporting production through troubleshooting, production improvements, CNC integration, and mechanical system support. In a small manufacturing environment, the engineer works closely with operations and maintenance to ensure reliable, efficient, and safe equipment operation. Key Responsibilities Develop, modify, and maintain PLC logic for manufacturing equipment and machinery Troubleshoot controls, electrical, and mechanical issues impacting production Support and integrate CNC machines and machining centers Perform machine startups, retrofits, and minor system upgrades Diagnose issues related to sensors, actuators, VFDs, servos, HMIs, and I/O Collaborate with Maintenance and Production to minimize downtime on mechanical, CNC and PLC controlled equipment Support mechanical improvements, including fixturing, pneumatics, hydraulics, and machine modifications Support machine safety improvements and compliance with plant safety standards Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering discipline 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment Hands‑on experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting Experience working directly on production equipment Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills Comfortable working independently in a small‑team environment Preferred Qualifications Exposure to CNC programming or CNC machine integration Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and motion systems Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
