Candidates should demonstrate an active professional practice and two years of teaching experience at the college level or equivalent experience. An MFA in Sculpture or related field, or equivalent professional experience, is required.

Description:
The Sculpture area at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University seeks a Part-Time Lecturer to teach studio courses during the 2026-2027 academic year. Appointments may include up to four courses across the academic year, depending on program needs. Courses that may be taught by the Part-Time Lecturer include introductory, itermediate, or advanced studio classes such as Drawing for Sculpture, Advanced Sculpture Projects, Intermediate Digital Fabrication, Object a Week, Advanced Installation Projects, or Intro to Metal Fabrication. Teaching assignments will depend on program needs and the selected candidate(s)' expertise. The Sculpture area supports a broad range of practices, including object-making, fabrication-based processes, installation, and interdisciplinary media. Courses combine demonstration, lectures, critiques, readings, and studio work while encouraging experimentation with materials, structural systems, and spacial thinking. The Sculpture area is particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to one of the following areas of teaching: Fabrication and Material-Based Sculpture Candidates may have experience working with fabrication processes such as wood construction, welding and metal fabrication, mold-making and casting processes, or other structural and materials-based sculpture methods. Experience supporting safe studio practices in shared fabrication facilities is expected. Digital Fabrication and Hybrid Sculptural Workflows Candidates may have experience with digital fabrication tools and workflows such as CNC, laser cutting, 3D modeling, or digital-to-physical production processes. The Sculpture area welcomes artists who integrate digital fabrication with sculptural practice and experimental or interdisciplinary approaches to making Candidates whose expertise spans multiple areas of sculptural practice are especially encouraged to apply. Instructers will also participate in end-of-semester Review Boards and provide feedback to students working across media.
