Journeyman and/or Master Cabinet Maker Vail Valley, CO • Full-time • $40-$55/hr, DOE Posted August 22, 2026 The Opportunity Sawhorse Woodworking and Design builds custom cabinetry and fine woodwork for homes throughout the Vail Valley. We have steady, ongoing project work on the books, and we're looking to add a Master Cabinet Maker to the shop for the long haul — not a fill-in for a busy season. This is a craft-first shop. The people who do best here are the ones who'd rather spend an extra hour getting a reveal line right than let something average out the door. The Craft Design, build, and install custom cabinetry, built-ins, and fine furniture pieces to an exacting standard Execute fine joinery — dovetails, mortise and tenon, and other traditional techniques — alongside modern cabinetmaking methods Select and prepare materials, including hardwood, veneer, and sheet stock, with an eye for grain, color, and match Operate and maintain shop machinery: table saws, planers, jointers, CNC equipment, and finishing tools Read and interpret shop drawings, architectural plans, and finish schedules Partner with clients, designers, and the project team from concept through final installation Mentor junior shop staff and help keep the shop clean, organized, and running efficiently Who We're Looking For 5+ years building custom cabinetry or fine furniture, ideally on high-end residential work True mastery of hand-tool and power-tool technique, including fine joinery An eye for detail that doesn't quit once a piece looks "good enough" Comfortable reading shop drawings and working independently from a set of plans Ready to mentor others and take ownership of your own project timeline Comfortable working in a mountain environment year-round Valid driver's license, and legally authorized to work in the United States What You'll Get $40-$55/hr, based on experience Immediate start with steady, long-term work already on the books Small shop where your name is on the work and everyone knows it Room to grow with the company as we take on more of the Valley's custom projects Education / training support Hiring bonus Paid time off How to
