Cabinet Installer The Cabinet Installer is responsible for the on-site delivery, installation, and finishing of custom cabinetry and architectural millwork. This role requires strong carpentry skills, attention to detail, and a customer-focused approach to ensure each installation meets quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret shop drawings, floor plans, and elevations to install cabinets and millwork per project specifications. Measure, level, plumb, and scribe cabinets to walls and floors to ensure a precise, professional fit in spaces that are rarely perfectly square. Install base, wall, tall, and specialty cabinets including islands, vanities, built-ins, and custom architectural pieces. Securely anchor cabinets to walls, floors, and adjacent units using appropriate fasteners and techniques for each substrate (drywall, masonry, steel studs, etc.). Install countertops, toe kicks, crown molding, light rail, fillers, panels, and other trim components for a finished appearance. Hang doors, install drawer fronts, and adjust hardware (hinges, slides, pulls) to achieve consistent reveals and smooth operation. Perform on-site modifications including cutting, drilling, and scribing as needed to accommodate plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and existing site conditions. Touch up finishes, fill nail holes, and address minor defects to deliver a clean, punch-list-ready installation. Maintain a clean and safe job site Care for company vehicles, tools, and equipment; report damage, mechanical issues, or maintenance needs promptly. Communicate with the production manager and project team regarding site conditions, change orders, and punch list items. Perform other duties as assigned. Experience & Qualifications:
2+ years of experience installing custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, or finish carpentry preferred. Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and project specifications. Proficiency with hand tools and power tools commonly used in cabinet installation (drills, impact drivers, track saws, miter saws, routers, jigsaws, levels, lasers, etc.). Strong understanding of scribing, shimming, and leveling techniques for installations on uneven walls and floors. Working knowledge of cabinet hardware adjustment (hinges, drawer slides, pulls) and minor finish touch-up. Familiarity with residential and commercial construction practices, including coordinating with other trades. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; comfortable driving company vehicles and trailers to job sites. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, navigate stairs and ladders, and safely move large cabinets (often with a partner or lift assist).
