Our clients include prominent Austin restaurateurs and commercial developers who expect precision, professionalism, and craftsmanship that stands apart. We are a small, tight-knit team and we intend to keep it that way — which means every person we bring on has to be someone we're genuinely proud to have representing SunRay. We do not tolerate mediocrity, excuses, or bad attitudes. We do reward skill, reliability, and a drive to produce work that makes people stop and look. The Role We are looking for a skilled, experienced Finish Carpenter / Cabinet Builder who is equally at home in the shop and on the job site. You will work on custom millwork, cabinetry, and architectural finish carpentry for restaurants and commercial interiors — the kind of work that requires real craft, real attention to detail, and a genuine pride in your output. This is precision work for people who care.
Responsibilities include:

What We're Looking For Skills & Experience:
5+ years of hands-on finish carpentry and/or cabinet building experience Proven shop experience: building cabinets, millwork, and custom wood components from scratch Proven field experience: installing cabinetry, trim, doors, and finish elements in commercial environments Proficiency with a full range of shop tools (table saw, miter saw, router, jointer, planer, pocket hole joinery, etc.) Ability to read shop drawings and architectural plans accurately Strong understanding of materials, joinery, and finishing techniques Commercial construction experience preferred; restaurant or hospitality interiors a strong plus
Character & Work Ethic:
Self-starting — you don't need to be told twice and you don't wait around for direction Motivated and driven — you take pride in your craft and you want to keep getting better Positive attitude — this is a team environment and we need people who elevate it, not drag it down Accountable — when something is off, you own it and fix it Professional — you show up on time, communicate clearly, and treat every job site with respect
Requirements:
Reliable personal transportation to job sites across the Austin metro Your own personal tools (Large power tools and shop equipment provided) Ability to pass a background check Must be legally authorized to work in the United States This Is NOT the Right Fit If... You need constant supervision to stay productive You cut corners and hope no one notices Showing up on time is a struggle You have a chip on your shoulder or don't work well with others Your idea of finish carpentry is caulk and paint We'd rather leave a position open than bring in the wrong person.
