Mill Shop Associate Baker Lumber Inc. - White River Junction, VT Build Quality Products. Work with Premium Hardwood. Join a Great Team. Baker Lumber Inc. is a family-owned hardwood lumberyard serving cabinet shops, furniture makers, contractors, woodworkers, and homeowners throughout New England. We are looking for a dependable, hardworking Mill Shop Associate to join our growing production team. If you enjoy working with wood, take pride in quality craftsmanship, and like seeing a finished product at the end of each day, we'd love to meet you. What You'll Do As a Mill Shop Associate, you'll help transform rough hardwood and softwood lumber into finished products our customers use every day.
Your responsibilities will include:
Surface rough hardwood lumber using industrial planers and other milling equipment Produce custom moldings, flooring, paneling, shiplap, trim, and specialty millwork Set up and safely operate woodworking equipment Inspect lumber for quality before and after machining Read work orders and prepare customer orders accurately Package completed orders for pickup or delivery Keep the mill shop clean, organized, and operating efficiently Occasionally assist with loading customer orders Work alongside an experienced team to produce high-quality wood products What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: Reliable and punctual Enjoys working with their hands Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic Able to work independently and as part of a team Safety-minded Willing to learn new skills Experience is helpful but not required . We are happy to train someone with the right attitude and willingness to learn. Preferred Experience Any experience in the following is a plus: Woodworking Cabinet making Carpentry Lumber or building materials Millwork Hardwood lumber Woodworking machinery Forklift operation Physical Requirements Lift up to 75 pounds regularly Stand for extended periods Work safely around industrial woodworking machinery Work in a production shop environment Why Work at Baker Lumber?
