Job Description

Trident Seafoods is North America's largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company. Trident is a privately held, 100 percent USA-owned company with global operations in 6 countries and serves customers in almost 60 countries. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington (USA), Trident employs approximately 7,700 people worldwide each year and partners with over 2,700 independent fishermen and crewmembers in Alaska. Trident catches and processes virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska. The global supply chain also encompasses cultured and wild species sourced from an international network of trusted suppliers.
Summary :
The Factory Technician Assistant will repair, adjust and maintain seafood processing machinery and related equipment in a shore plant production facility, including pumps, motors, conveyors, gears, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic equipment, heading, gutting, fillet and mince machines.
Key Responsibilities:
Assists with the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance and repair requirements on motors, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyor systems, and production machines as directed. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and applying precision measuring and testing instruments. Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, and straightedges. Performs routine daily maintenance and adjustments to equipment as required to meet production goal and requests. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Complete work orders via Maintenance Management System (MMS) via ipad.
Additional Responsibilities:
Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions. Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a current Trident Seafoods employee or have worked for Trident Seafoods before Proficient knowledge of basic hand tools (wrench, drill, hammers), or mechanical experience. Must be able to communicate and understand English, and complete work orders into the MMS system via iPad with accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year of mechanical experience preferred. HS Diploma or equivalent preferred. Degree or certificate form a college or technical school in a related discipline. Mechanical knowledge/experience in Seafood manufacturing preferred.
Special Training/Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to supervisor and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
