Job Description

Job Title:
Chemical Technician Job Description A chemical technician with 5 to 10 years of experience is responsible for assisting chemists and chemical engineers in developing and testing chemical products. The role includes testing chemicals for impurities, performing quality assurance, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and assessing environmental impact. Regular testing to determine the chemical composition of products or samples is also a key duty. Responsibilities Track inventory, prioritize orders, maintain lab equipment, and document processes during each chemical test. Follow environmental regulations and review newly published safety protocols from OSHA and NFPA. Prepare chemical solutions, complete chemical orders, and store solutions safely according to temperature requirements. Conduct lab tests to ensure chemicals are safe to use, record findings, and troubleshoot issues for further assessment. Compile and interpret lab test results and correct potential anomalies. Monitor chemical processes and resolve production issues by coordinating with appropriate personnel. Produce and retrieve graphical results to share with lab managers or senior personnel. Sterilize work surfaces and equipment before use and replace worn or damaged equipment as needed. Train new technicians on different chemical processes and periodically update their knowledge of chemical technology. Essential Skills BS degree in Chemistry or another field of science with a minimum of 12 semester hours in Chemistry. Experience and competency in the use, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Knowledge of proper analytical methods and techniques. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience and knowledge of boiler/water analysis preferred. Previous work experience in a water treatment plant preferred. Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred. Familiarity with mechanical parts and repair is preferred. Knowledge and experience in the production of deionized water is preferred. Work Environment The role is onsite at a power plant, requiring adherence to safety protocols and regulations. The environment involves using laboratory equipment and maintaining a sterile workspace. A professional dress code is expected. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Billingsley, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
