Job Description Summary:
Sets up and operates slitting, rewinding and bag converting machines. In addition, monitors quality and troubleshoots production problems. Essential Duties & Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the role safely and successfully. Performs set up of slitting and bag converting equipment and makes necessary equipment adjustments to ensure quality and maximize production outputs Reviews specs, work order, print master and production samples and calculates and records production pounds, bags and time. Performs quality checks at set up and specified intervals during the production run then notes results on the Quality Check Report and provided required samples Ensures availability and/or prepares materials needed for production runs (i.e. boxes, wickets or other miscellaneous production and/or packaging supplies) and counts and records inventory levels for spare parts and production forms Completes required production run reporting such as but not limited to: Production Reports, Job Order, Quality Check Report, Pallet Labels, WIP or Raw Material Usage to include but not limited to calculation of production pounds or impressions and run times, Skid Tags. Assist in monitoring and reporting equipment conditions, working conditions and operating methods for safety and maintenance needs and perform general preventative maintenance and completes associated reports Performs roll changes and palletize finished product Must be able to read a tape measure Assist in maintaining clean workspace, equipment and tools Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner Must be able to work up to 12-hour shifts Performs other duties as assigned Assist in adjusting equipment to correct production and quality problems maximizing outputs. Qualifications and Education Requirements Education High School diploma or GED; or 6 to 12 months manufacturing experience and/or training; or Equivalent combination of education and experience Language Skills Must be able to read and interpret English language documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, company handbook, and procedure manuals. Must be able to speak and write in English effectively when presenting information to supervisors and fellow employees. Mathematical Skills Required to add, subtract, multiply and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must be able to read a tape measure. Essential Physical Demands While performing the duties required of this position, the employee is constantly required to stand for up to 12 hours, walk, use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee will occasionally be required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds or more than fifty (50) pounds with assistance or proper equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This role requires the employee to concentrate for long periods of time. Work Environment The work environment includes moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. There is the possibility the employee will occasionally be exposed to high precarious places, hazardous chemicals, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment can be considered loud. The temperature is not completely controlled and can be considered to be related to seasonal conditions. Position Level progression Level 1: Entry level; no prior experience Level 2: Minimum of 4 months experience and general knowledge of slitting/rewinding and bag converting equipment and protocol. Level 3: Ability to operate all slitting/rewinding and bag converting equipment with supervision and general knowledge of press equipment to assist if needed Level 4: Ability to operate all press, slitting/rewinding and bag converting equipment without direct supervision guidance, capable of accurately produce all required production run reporting, and ensure product quality.
