This vital role ensures the safe and efficient sterilization and management of surgical instruments and medical equipment, supporting patient safety and hospital operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of sterile processing procedures, anatomy, and physiology, with a focus on maintaining the highest standards of aseptic technique. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a critical aspect of patient care in a fast-paced medical environment. Responsibilities Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment following established protocols Inspect instruments for damage or wear, ensuring all items meet safety standards before use Manage inventory levels of sterile supplies, ensuring proper stock levels and documentation Properly package and label sterilized items for storage or distribution within the facility Maintain detailed records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory logs Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during processing procedures Assist with the setup and breakdown of sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners Follow all safety guidelines related to handling biohazardous materials and chemicals used in sterilization processes Experience Prior experience in sterile processing or surgical instrument reprocessing is preferred Knowledge of anatomy and physiology enhances understanding of instrument usage and care Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to surgical procedures and instrument identification Experience with inventory management systems is advantageous Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and infection control protocols is essential Certification in sterile processing or related fields is a plus but not mandatory; on-the-job training will be provided for qualified candidates This role plays a crucial part in maintaining a safe healthcare environment by ensuring all surgical tools are properly sterilized, organized, and ready for use.
