Job Description

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is recruiting for a Sterile Processing Technician II who is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, testing, sorting, assembling, packaging, distributing and collecting a variety of reusable medical and surgical equipment, instrumentation and supplies. Positions in this class work under general supervision and are characterized by the assignment of lead worker responsibilities in addition to the performance of Sterile Processing Technician duties. ARROWHEAD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER
Located on a beautiful 70-acre campus in Colton, California (50 miles east of Los Angeles), Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is a state-of-the-art, public/nonprofit, 456-bed, university affiliated teaching hospital licensed by the State of California Department of Public Health and accredited by The Joint Commission. The hospital houses a regional burn center serving four counties (San Bernardino, Riverside, Mono and Inyo), a comprehensive stroke center, level I trauma center and a freestanding in-patient behavioral health center. Additionally, ARMC operates five community-based, primary care clinics and over 40 specialty care outpatient services. ARMC is the primary teaching hospital for the adjacently located California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM), the Inland Empire's newest medical school. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process:
Applicants selected for these positions must pass a background investigation which includes drug testing, fingerprinting, and verification of employment history.
Availability:
Incumbents may be required to work various shifts, holidays, n ight shift, weekend, on-call and call-back.
Physical:
Physical agility requirements include good vision and color discrimination; fine hand manipulation and finger dexterity in both hands; working and/or reaching above and below shoulder level; using either foot to operate foot controls; ability to move up to fifty (50) lbs. manually or with assistance.
Environment:
Work environment involves exposure to electricity, chemicals, infectious materials, heat, and odors.

EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in an acute care hospital operating sterilizing equipment and cleaning surgical instruments and equipment. - AND -
CERTIFICATION:
Must possess certification as a Sterile Processing/Central Service Technician through the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) in any one of the following: National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) Only accepted in conjunction with the completion of a Sterile Processing Technician course from an accredited agency.
