3910 Joliet Street Denver, CO 80239 PVS DX, Inc, is a nationwide manufacturer and distributor of compressed gases and other water treatment chemicals. We are a safety conscious employer: the safety, security and welfare of fellow workers, the community and the environment are our #1 priority. Colorado Salt Products is a chloro/alkali production facility making bleach, caustic, and hydrochloric acid. Operations are required to bring salt into the plant for the process of making bleach. Operators are responsible for loading customer trailers, monitoring flows and pressures, testing product quality, and observing HMI/PLC operations. Operations provides warehousing, packaging, transportation, bleach manufacture, and office support functions for the district or Company. The operator performs various functions in the compressed gas filling process. Competencies/Expectations Operators will be expected to open and close a railcar almost every shift as well as cleaning our salt filters on the roof 1 to 2 times a shift no matter the time of day or weather. Both are dependent of plant needs and production rates. Housekeeping of the railyard to keep it free of salt on the Daily field rounds to ensure the process is in spec for flows, pressures, and This is also important to look for process issues or maintenance that may need to be performed. Operators are not required to perform maintenance besides for operations needs or when shut down work is being performed. Loading customers for bleach, caustic, or acid at any time of the day or Must be in full chem suit and full-face respirator for acid filling. Quality assurance lab tests through titrations and using a Reading trends on the PLC/HMI and troubleshooting issues in the plant from the trending Operators will learn all 3 roles: Field/Material Handling, Lab, and Control Operators will then rotate through the roles once trained in all of them. Monitor recording instruments, flow meters, panel lights and other indicators and listen for warning signals, in order to verify conformity of process conditions. Control or operate chemical processes or systems of machines, using panel boards, control boards or semi-automatic equipment. Record operating data such as process conditions, test results and instrument Confer with technical and supervisory personnel to report or resolve conditions affecting safety, efficiency, and product quality. Draw samples of products and conduct quality control tests in order to monitor processing and to ensure that standards are met. Regulate or shut down equipment during emergency situations, as directed by supervisory personnel. Start pumps to wash and rinse reactor vessels to exhaust gases and vapors; to regulate the flow of oil, steam, air, and perfume to lowers; and to add products to converter or blending vessels. Interpret chemical reactions visible through sight glasses or on television monitors and review laboratory reports for process adjustments. Patrol work areas to ensure that solutions in tanks and troughs are not in danger of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Requirements:
All employees of PVS are expected to work safely, follow all procedures and wear the proper safety equipment at all times on the job. PPE has been determined by the Safety Data Sheets, manufacturer recommendations, workplace hazard analysis and from personal exposure monitoring data. This PPE is provided by PVS and includes: Steel-toe work shoes or composite toe work shoes/boots Safety glasses- Company paid for prescription and nonprescription (Contacts are not allowed due to safety reasons) Company issued uniform High visibility clothing as needed Hard Hats Escape respirator Clean shaven, no beards Additional PPE may be required based on the task or operation being performed. Refer to PVS' full PPE policy for specific requirements.
Working Conditions Requirements:
Worker may be exposed to : Hazardous materials, Bleach, caustic, HCl and chlorine gas Outdoor weather conditions, working in salt yard and changing roof filters Work irregular hours, swing shifts, Day and Night Shifts with 12-hour shifts
Attendance:
Employees are expected to report to work on time and to work overtime, when necessary General company policies regarding attendance, PTO, and leaves of absence
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent One to Two years of stable work experience in a chemical plant or equivalent environment Required Ability to work overtime & a rotating schedule (additional hours, holidays and weekends based on business needs) Required Pre-employment testing, drug screen and physical exam Required Must be able to physically maneuver up to 50 lbs independently and 100 lbs with assistance (e.g., a two-person lift or mechanical aid) Required Must be adaptable; job duties may change based on evolving business and overall plant needs.
