Job Description
Position Summary The Molding Technician is responsible for basic and advanced equipment and process set-up, changeovers, troubleshooting, equipment maintenance and basic repair and rebuild. Equipment includes Injection Molding Machines and associated ancillary equipment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform all functions of a Technician Level I. Repair or replace valves, replace granulator cutting knives, replace belts. Process servo error corrections and load cell calibrations of electric machines. Repair hydraulic valves and oil leaks; troubleshoot electrical machines. Perform parts picker troubleshooting and repair; balancing mold hot runner systems. Train Level I technicians; assist Engineering with trials inspection. Initiate corrective actions for non-conformances. Perform mid-level adjustments and repairs on machines. Enter work orders and requests. Follow 5S standards and support further standards development. Cross trained in at least one other functional area. Model company values and support strategic initiatives. Perform other related duties as assigned or required. This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including knowledge of all standards, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes related to the site). Engage others, promote and participate in Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement. Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of plastic injection molding processes. Strong mechanical ability and analytical skills. Sound judgment in the execution of technical/troubleshooting issues. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills to facilitate communication at various levels and areas within the organization. Understanding of computers and computerized controls. Ability to learn new technologies; understand and perform continuous improvement activities. Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Diploma, or GED with 3 to 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience; or Technical Certificate with up to 3 years of experience. Work Environment Work involves use of manufacturing equipment or close proximity to equipment. May be exposed to biohazards and/or chemicals. Work environment can range from clean room and proper gowning requirements to a production area that is open, potentially noisy, and with moving equipment. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. and push/pull up to 80 lbs. Recurring physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, crouching, climbing, bilateral motion involving hands, wrists, and upper body. Concentrated visual attention to perform checks on products and components. Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time.
