PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Hot End Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining high-temperature furnace systems (LF1 and LF2) within a fiberglass manufacturing environment. This role involves monitoring production processes, performing equipment repairs, supporting material handling, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. Reports to:
Operations Leader Weekly Schedule follows a 2-2-3 pattern: Week 1: Work 2 days, off 2 days, then work 3 days.
Week 2: Off 2 days, work 2 days, then off 3 days.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Assurance Perform and document CILT (Critical Inspection and Line Testing) procedures.
Monitor furnace and process parameters to ensure consistent product quality.
Support quality control efforts by identifying and reporting process deviations.
Assist in maintaining compliance with internal and external quality standards. Safety Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
Maintain clean and orderly work areas to support safety and efficiency.
Actively participate in Plant Safety initiatives such as Hazard ID and Online Learning. Technical Operations Operate LF1 and LF2 furnaces, including monitoring and responding to furnace upsets.
Perform hot repairs and electrode changes.
Understand and support the full operation of fiberizer and forehearth systems.
Monitor furnace area processes through computer systems and visual inspections.
Conduct Title V environmental monitoring and documentation.
Maintain inventory of parts, raw materials, and supplies.
Demonstrate knowledge of batch and chemical interactions in the manufacturing process.
JOB REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Completed High School Diploma or equivalent required
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English
Must be able to provide authorization to work in the United States
Ability to work in a gritty, hands-on production environment
Ability to lift up to 75lbs Ability to work in extreme temperatures and working around dust and particulates
Must be able to pass respirator fit test
Minimum one year of manufacturing experience
PREFERRED
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience in molten or hot work environment
Previous experience in either industrial manufacturing or production oriented environment
