Chemical Operator - Now Hiring We are seeking a reliable, safety-focused Liquid Plant Operator / Chemical Handler to join our growing operations team. Key Responsibilities Operate pumps, valves, and related equipment to transfer liquid chemicals between tanks, totes, drums, and other containers Connect and disconnect hoses to safely load and unload liquid chemicals Perform chemical transloading in peroxide and hazardous materials departments Move chemical totes (~35 lbs) manually or with a sit-down forklift Load and unload railcars, tankers, and bulk containers using transfer systems Verify incoming and outgoing shipments using written documentation to ensure accuracy Properly label drums and totes to meet safety and compliance standards Perform consistent heavy lifting and material handling throughout the shift Operate a spotter truck to move containers and equipment around the facility (as needed) Support operations with blending, batch making, and compounding chemicals Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area at all times Follow strict safety procedures when working with hazardous chemicals and equipment Work collaboratively with team members to meet production and operational goals Be available for overtime as required Required Qualifications Experience in industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, or chemical plant environments Hands-on experience with pumps, valves, hoses, or fluid transfer systems Ability to perform heavy physical work and repetitive lifting Experience operating a sit-down forklift (preferred) Comfortable working with hazardous materials in a heavy-duty environment Strong attention to detail for documentation and labeling accuracy Ability to read and verify shipping and product documentation Commitment to workplace safety and compliance standards Flexibility to work overtime as needed Work Environment You'll work in a heavy‑duty chemical storage and distribution facility with pumps, valves, tanks, railcars, forklifts, and transfer equipment. Expect both indoor and outdoor work, consistent lifting, and a first‑shift schedule (6:00-2:30 or 7:00-3:30). The team is small, collaborative, and safety‑focused. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Joliet, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
