Job Description
Produce quality products to meet internal and external customer's requirements in a safe, cost efficient and environmentally sound way. Activities of position will be consistent with Plant loss control objectives and guidelines and will periodically perform reviews of work areas for potential losses and loss control opportunities. Follow all Plant & Department safety rules and instructions, including proper PPE. Produce quality chemical products by reading, following, and understanding detailed work Add various chemicals (liquids & powders) to large jacketed tanks (100 to 6000 gallons) by opening valves in pipelines or using lift trucks and overhead hoists for drums. Read and understand gauges, charts and work instructions. Record accurate data on work instructions and initial as verification the task was complete. Interface with process control computers. Operating all reactors, dryers, mills & associated equipment. Apply steam or water to a jacketed tank to cook out or cool down chemicals. This is done by opening valves in pipelines Perform simple mathematical calculations Enter computer data for safety inspections and batch processes Use hand tools (wrenches, channel locks, etc.) as required during operation of equipment Maintain good housekeeping by washing floors. Housekeeping in area includes cleaning lines, flex hoses and equipment between batches and steps. Also includes cleaning floors, keeping materials put up and storage racks in order. Emptying trash containers as needed and policing areas inside and immediately outside of building. Attend required training & safety meetings.
