Responsibilities Clean, decontaminate, and disinfect surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment following infection control standards Assemble, wrap, and package instrument trays and sets according to established count sheets and surgeon preferences Operate autoclaves and low-temperature sterilizers, running and documenting biological and chemical indicator tests Inspect instruments for cleanliness, function, and integrity, removing damaged items from circulation Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, loads, and quality checks to support regulatory compliance Manage inventory, restock supplies, and ensure timely delivery of sterile sets to the OR and clinical units Follow AAMI/AORN and hospital policies for handling contaminated materials and personal protective equipment Collaborate with OR staff and nurses to prioritize urgent cases and respond to add-on or emergent needs Participate in ongoing training, safety drills, and performance improvement activities within sterile processing Identify and report equipment malfunctions or quality concerns to leadership for prompt resolution Required Skills Sterile instrument decontamination Instrument tray assembly and packaging Autoclave and low-temperature sterilization operation Biological and chemical indicator monitoring Instrument identification and care Infection prevention and control practices Use of tracking and inventory systems Adherence to
