Production Operator Job Description This role supports a chemical manufacturing facility by safely handling chemical intake, cleaning, and distribution processes. You will primarily operate on an afternoon shift, focusing on drumming approved blends, testing expired totes to return them to production, and making adjustments or sampling work completed by the day shift. The position involves working with chemical recipes, processing equipment, and tanks while following strict safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Operate as a production operator on the afternoon shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Assist with the complete process of chemical intake, including receiving, handling, and preparing chemicals for production. Perform cleaning and distribution tasks to ensure chemicals move safely and efficiently through the production process. Drum off approved chemical blends into appropriate containers during the afternoon shift, following established recipes and procedures. Test expired totes during slower drumming periods and prepare them to be returned to production when suitable for use. Make process adjustments and take samples on work completed by the day shift to maintain product quality and consistency. Follow detailed chemical recipes and processing instructions to ensure accurate mixing and blending of products. Work with chemical tanks, valves, and pumps to support chemical processing operations. Read and interpret pressure gauges and safely release pressure within tanks as required. Monitor tank gauges and volume gauges to ensure correct levels and safe operating conditions. Maintain accurate awareness of chemical inventory and support proper chemical management and safety practices. Operate a sit-down hi-lo (forklift) to move materials, drums, totes, and other production items safely around the facility. Adhere to all chemical safety guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of industrial chemicals. Support a clean, organized, and safe production area by following housekeeping and safety procedures. Communicate effectively with day shift and other team members to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of production. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Ferndale, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
