Rail Flaw Detection Assistant Operator -
Travel Role Location:
Kansas City, MO Pay:
$22/hr +
DOE Travel Requirements:
This role is 100% travel with 6 weeks of vacation time each year. Flight, Hotel and travel costs covered
Position Type:

Staffmark Total Talent Solutions, in partnership with our client Wabtec (a global leader in rail technology and infrastructure) is hiring an Assistant Operator to join our Rail Flaw Detection (RFD) team. This is a fully funded travel role — flights, hotels, and expenses covered — with 6 weeks of vacation annually. What You'll Do (Job Duties) Traveling across the continental U.S. as part of a two-person crew, you'll operate and maintain specialized rail inspection vehicles that detect internal track defects invisible to the naked eye — critical work that prevents derailments and protects infrastructure nationwide. Drive rail inspection vehicles on-road and on-track Assist Chief Operator during ultrasonic testing Maintain and repair the ultrasonic testing carriage Mark defective rails; conduct pre/post DOT vehicle inspections Manage electronic driver logs, fuel reports, and expense records What You Need (Requirements and Qualifications) High school diploma or GED 1+ year professional driving experience preferred (comfort with larger trucks) Basic mechanical aptitude and hand tool knowledge Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office 365/Windows) Ability to travel extensively — up to several months at a time Must be a reliable team player with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
Railroad experience a plus.
