Job Description

Job Title:
Production Rewind Operator Job Description The Rewind Operator plays a key role in pharmaceutical labeling by operating rewind machinery to inspect and prepare rolls of printed labels in accordance with strict customer specifications and quality standards. This position involves repetitive, detail-oriented work in a climate-controlled warehouse environment, where you will sit at a workstation, visually inspect labels, document results, and ensure that only high-quality product moves forward in the production process. Responsibilities Operate rewind machinery to inspect rolls of printed labels and ensure they meet customer specifications and internal quality standards. Lift label rolls onto the rewind machine and prepare them for processing. Set up and adjust scanning equipment according to job specifications. Start and stop the rewind process using color-coded control buttons on the equipment. Visually inspect labels for imperfections based on job requirements and quality criteria. Remove defective labels and manually replace them, ensuring correct horizontal and vertical alignment. Replace long sequences of defective labels by splicing and re-taping in line with job specifications. Fan-fold labels and organize them into bundles as required. Review computer-based scanning results to identify imperfections that may not be visible to the eye and make label adjustments or replacements accordingly. Inspect back-numbered labels to verify proper numerical sequence. Use air blasting to check labels for the presence or absence of glue and ensure proper adhesion. Cut cores to the appropriate length needed for each job and prepare them for use in rewinding. Maintain full traceability by accurately completing all required paperwork and documentation. Rewind labels onto rolls after inspection and quality checks are complete. Assist in training co-workers on rewind operations and inspection procedures as needed to support production demands. Follow written, oral, and verbal instructions and perform other duties as assigned by supervision to support overall production and quality goals. Essential Skills Ability to perform detailed visual inspection of printed labels for quality and accuracy. Strong attention to detail to consistently identify defects and maintain high quality standards in a repetitive work environment. Capability to count and measure accurately to verify quantities and specifications. Ability to work independently as a self-starter while also collaborating effectively as part of a team. Skill in following written, oral, and verbal directions from supervisors and other team members. Ability to respond professionally to questions from managers, team members, and customers. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures related to printing and labeling processes. Basic computer skills to navigate systems and understand job specifications and scanning results. Comfort working in a monotonous, repetitive role while maintaining focus and accuracy. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in inspection or quality inspection roles is a plus. Knowledge of printing production processes is an advantage. Experience with gluing systems and glue detection systems is beneficial. Experience setting up sensors, scanners, and vision systems is a plus. Packaging experience in the pharmaceutical or food packaging industry is highly desirable. Experience in print, visual inspection, packaging, labeling, quality inspection, or related printing and packaging environments is helpful. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a humidified, climate-controlled warehouse environment that complies with government regulations for pharmaceutical and printing operations. You will typically work seated at a desk, somewhat isolated from the broader warehouse area, focusing on detailed inspection tasks. The dress code is casual and practical, with T-shirts, jeans, and tennis shoes appropriate for the setting. The work area includes exposure to fumes or airborne particles and print-related chemicals common to a printing environment, as well as frequent proximity to moving mechanical parts. Noise levels are moderate, consistent with an active production and printing facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Charles, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
