Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Process Operator I is a critical role in LSC Environmental's manufacturing operation for 1st or 2nd shift. The Process Operator I is responsible for operating automated equipment and systems used to manufacture LSC's line of environmental products including spray-applied landfill cover systems, erosion control coatings, vegetation products, and dust suppression solutions. The right candidate comes from a background in chemical processing, water treatment, industrial manufacturing, or a similar environment where process discipline, mechanical intuition, and safety behavior were non-negotiable. We are building operators who understand what should be happening and notice when it isn't — before something goes wrong.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate assigned production equipment, automated systems, and application machinery according to established SOPs Monitor process parameters — flow rates, pressures, temperatures, mix ratios — and identify deviations early Perform pre-shift equipment inspections and complete all required documentation accurately Execute product changeovers, equipment cleanouts, and startup/shutdown procedures correctly every time Maintain batch records, production logs, and quality data with precision Identify and communicate process abnormalities to the Team Lead before they become failures Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements without exception — stop work when something feels wrong Participate in cross-training across multiple production lines to build operational versatility Support continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and suggesting solutions Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment at all times Actively mentor Material Handlers by modeling the right behaviors and process discipline
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in industrial technology, process technology, or related field preferred 1-3 years of experience in a process-oriented manufacturing environment — chemical processing, water/wastewater treatment, food & beverage (high automation), oil & gas, power generation, or paper/pulp operations strongly preferred Demonstrated ability to operate, monitor, and perform basic troubleshooting on automated industrial equipment Mechanical aptitude — understanding of cause-and-effect relationships in process systems Ability to read and interpret process documentation, SOPs, batch records, and basic instrument readings Basic data fluency — comfortable reading dashboards, trending data, and production metrics Proven safety-first behavior — not just compliance, but genuine awareness and accountability Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision once trained and qualified Physical ability to work in a manufacturing environment including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in varying temperature conditions Forklift certification preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Manufacturing environment with exposure to industrial chemicals, dust, noise, and equipment. Full PPE required.
Pay:
$18.50 - $21.50 per hour
