Not Required Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) Team Lead to join a busy sterile processing department within a leading teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center in Columbus, Ohio. The SPT Team Lead will help oversee daily sterile processing operations, coordinate workflow, support staff, and ensure surgical instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated, assembled, sterilized, tracked, and made available for patient care. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced sterile processing professional with previous lead, charge, or leadership experience who is comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment. Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of Sterile Processing experience
- Previous Team Lead, Charge, or Leadership experience
- Level I Trauma Center experience required
- Experience in an acute-care hospital / OR environment
- HSPA (IAHCSMM) or CBSPD certification required
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and infection prevention standards
- Experience with Censitrac preferred
- Experience with instrument decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and packaging
- Experience with flexible endoscope reprocessing
- Experience with surgical drills, scopes, and Da Vinci robotic equipment
- Strong understanding of sterilization testing and monitoring
- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume surgical environment
- First-time travelers are welcome Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily sterile processing operations
- Support department workflow and ensure timely processing of surgical instrumentation
- Perform decontamination, cleaning, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of instruments
- Inspect instruments and equipment to ensure they are clean, functional, and ready for patient use
- Assemble surgical trays and instrument sets for multiple specialties
- Perform steam sterilization and STERRAD processing
- Perform and document biological and chemical indicator testing
- Perform Immediate-Use Steam Sterilization (IUSS) when required
- Reprocess flexible endoscopes and specialty scopes
- Perform High-Level Disinfection (HLD)
- Track instruments and equipment using Censitrac
- Ensure proper labeling, packaging, storage, and documentation
- Support inventory management and quality improvement initiatives
- Mentor and support sterile processing staff
- Assist with workflow coordination and daily operational needs
- Prepare and distribute sterile instruments and supplies to procedural areas
