Chemical Operator Job Description This role focuses on operating and monitoring coating machinery used to paint caps for consumer products in a clean manufacturing environment. You will handle the full process of mixing, measuring, and weighing paint, as well as troubleshooting and maintaining your own equipment to ensure consistent, high-quality production. Responsibilities Operate coating machinery that paints caps according to established production standards and quality specifications. Set up, start, monitor, and shut down machines safely and efficiently throughout the shift. Troubleshoot machinery issues independently and make basic mechanical adjustments to maintain smooth operation. Swap out paint buckets in the machinery as needed to support continuous production. Mix, batch, and blend paint by accurately weighing and measuring materials following defined formulas and procedures. Perform compounding and batch making activities while adhering to production and quality guidelines. Conduct visual and basic quality inspections on finished caps to verify color, coverage, and overall appearance. Document production information and batch details accurately as required by plant procedures. Use forklifts or other material-handling equipment when needed to move materials or products safely. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety protocols at all times, including the proper use of personal protective equipment. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including machinery and surrounding production space. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and support continuous improvement. Work assigned shifts consistently and adapt to different shift schedules as needed by production demands. Essential Skills Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate measuring, weighing, and inspection of materials and products. Willingness to learn new processes, equipment, and procedures in a manufacturing environment. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand, operate, and troubleshoot production machinery. Basic understanding of manufacturing or production processes. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including formulas and production procedures. Capability to work safely around machinery, chemicals, and moving equipment. Reliability in attendance and punctuality to support consistent shift operations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with compounding, mixing, or blending materials in a production or chemical environment. Background in machine operation, including operating or monitoring production equipment. Familiarity with batching and batch making processes. Experience working under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Exposure to quality inspection activities in a manufacturing setting. Work Environment This position is based in a clean manufacturing facility focused on producing coated caps for consumer products. You will work on-site in a production area that follows Good Manufacturing Practices and uses coating, mixing, and batching equipment, along with other production machinery and material-handling tools such as forklifts. The role operates on structured weekday shifts: first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., mid shift from 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., second shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and third shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. Safety is a priority, and you must wear safety glasses at all times, with some areas requiring hair nets, beard nets, and steel-toed boots. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and adherence to established procedures while working with paints, chemicals, and automated machinery.
