There is significant opportunity for advancement for motivated individuals who demonstrate skill, reliability, and a willingness to learn. This position is ideal for candidates who thrive in a physical environment and enjoy contributing as part of a team. Roles and Responsibilities Prepare surfaces of tanks, pipes, valves, vessels, and similar equipment for lining by sandblasting , grinding, scraping, cleaning, or painting interior surfaces to achieve required substrate cleanliness and profile (e.g., per specifications like SSPC or ASME standards). Measure, cut, shape, and layout rubber sheeting (natural rubber, neoprene, butyl, chlorobutyl, or other compounds) to fit equipment contours precisely. Apply adhesives and bonding systems to both the prepared substrate and rubber sheets, ensuring proper selection and application for the specific lining compound and service conditions. Install and hand-lay rubber linings to interiors of equipment, carefully rolling, pressing, and smoothing to eliminate air pockets, wrinkles, or voids for maximum adhesion and corrosion protection. Inject compressed air into the vessel to bond the lining to walls and ensure full contact. Perform repairs on existing or damaged linings, including patching, post-cure repairs, and addressing defects. Inspect completed linings for quality, including visual checks, testing for pinholes, blisters, faulty seams, or holidays using spark testing (holiday detection) or other methods. Test linings for integrity (e.g., using spark testers to detect holes or weak areas by creating a spark on contact with exposed metal). Document work performed, including materials used, labor hours, test results, and compliance with specifications; prepare reports as required. Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols , including confined space entry procedures, use of PPE (respirators, harnesses, gloves, etc.), hazard recognition (chemicals, steam, heights), and compliance with
OSHA/MSHA
regulations. Work safely in confined spaces, at heights, or in field/shop environments, often involving travel to client sites (e.g., refineries, chemical plants, mining operations). Collaborate with supervisors, inspectors, and teams to ensure high-quality application, meet project deadlines, and address any deficiencies.
