Screen Maker - Screen Print Production $18.00/hr + $2.00 2nd Shift Premium ($20.00/hr total) | 2nd
Shift:
2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
THE ROLE
The Screen Maker is a production role responsible for producing, preparing, and maintaining the screens that our press operators rely on for every job. This position requires hands-on knowledge of the screen-making process from emulsion coating through exposure and washout, as well as the ability to manage multiple jobs simultaneously and ensure screens are press-ready on time. If you take pride in your craft and understand that a great print starts with a great screen, this role is for you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Coat screens with emulsion and allow proper drying time for each mesh count and application Wash out exposed screens and inspect for accuracy, sharpness, and pinhole-free coverage Tape and prepare screens for press, ensuring proper registration alignment Reclaim screens after jobs are completed — degrease, strip emulsion, and prepare for reuse Manage screen inventory and track which screens are in use, in queue, or ready for reclaim Coordinate with press operators to ensure screens are ready ahead of scheduled job changeovers Identify and resolve screen defects before they reach the press Maintain the screen room — organize supplies, chemicals, and equipment in a safe, clean workspace Follow safety protocols when handling emulsions, chemicals, and UV exposure equipment
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Prior experience in screen making, darkroom work, or screen-print production preferred Working knowledge of emulsion types, mesh counts, and exposure techniques Familiarity with reclaiming chemicals and proper screen care practices Ability to read and interpret work orders and job specs accurately Strong attention to detail — screen quality directly impacts every print produced Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize to keep the press running on schedule Comfortable working with chemicals and UV equipment in a controlled environment Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 30-50 lbs Reliable and consistent — 2nd shift requires self-direction and dependability High school diploma or equivalent preferred; screen-printing coursework or trade background a plus
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Screen room and production/manufacturing setting Exposure to emulsions, reclaiming chemicals, and UV light equipment Controlled lighting environment in the screen room for emulsion coating and exposure Fast-paced production environment with daily job targets
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
$18.00/hr base + $2.00/hr 2nd shift premium = $20.00/hr total 2nd
