Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Part-time, Flexible dayshift, Monday•Friday, days would be dependent on case volume. Working hours from after 12pm and could be as late as 6pm. There would also be opportunities for extra hours if we needed coverage for our other sterile processing techs. No call, no holidays, no weekends Pay Range $20.80•$31.20
Major Responsibilities:
Processes all reusable medical/surgical items for issue according to departmental and infection control policy and procedures. Sterilizes instruments and equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations and infection control guidelines. Completes thorough cleaning of surgical instruments and equipment. Processes patient care equipment for re-issue. Inspects patient care equipment for cleanliness and proper functioning. Inspects surgical instruments and equipment for proper functioning. Performs biological indicator tests on the Steam sterilizers and the Sterrad Unit and Steris One. Assembles instrument sets according to department protocols. Packages instrument sets for sterilizing. Distributes sterile equipment to appropriate areas. Communicates and notifies all personnel for the recall of sterilized items. Restocks surgery unit with medical/surgical supplies. Maintains established supply levels in the Central Processing area. Revises department policies to meet the department standards. Observes environmental standards for the Central Processing area. Lifts, carries and/or pushes/pull various items (bags, boxes, carts, etc.) while utilizing proper technique. High School Graduate.
Experience Required:
No experience required.
Experience Preferred:
1-2 years of sterile processing experience Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Good interpersonal communication skills. Requires the ability to receive and present information with proper conduct and tact.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Must be able to stand, walk, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders on a daily basis.
Must be able to:
lift up to 15 lbs. from floor to overhead lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at waist height a reasonable distance Must be able to: push/pull with 20 lbs. of force Position requires repetitive use of feet (i.e., heat sealer, sonic cleaner). Must have functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing. May be exposed to chemical hazards; therefore, protective clothing must be worn as necessary.
