In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to ensure efficient and accurate production runs. Your expertise will help us maintain top-quality standards while fostering a safe, productive, and innovative work environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your mechanical knowledge and technical skills in a fast-paced, growth-oriented company committed to excellence. Responsibilities Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications to accurately set up CNC equipment. Program CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and verify programs for accuracy before production. Prepare and install tooling, fixtures, and accessories on CNC lathes and milling machines to meet precise specifications. Conduct machine setups by calibrating with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Operate CNC equipment—including CNC milling machines and CNC lathes—using Fanuc controls or similar systems to produce parts within tight tolerances. Perform routine machine inspections, troubleshoot issues, and perform minor maintenance to ensure optimal performance. Maintain detailed documentation of setup procedures, machine parameters, and quality checks throughout production runs. Support continuous improvement initiatives by adhering to lean manufacturing principles and optimizing tooling and process workflows. Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical tools to assist with assembly or repair tasks as needed. Ensure compliance with safety standards by properly using PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and following all safety protocols during setup and operation. Experience Proven experience as a CNC Set Up Operator or in a similar manufacturing role involving CNC programming and machine setup. Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages such as G-code or M-code; experience with CAM software is highly desirable. Familiarity with reading blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T specifications, and mechanical schematics. Hands-on experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding processes, or welding is a plus. Skilled in using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of machining processes, tooling selection, fixture setup, and troubleshooting CNC equipment like Fanuc controls. Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, feed rates, speeds, and other machining parameters. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency and waste reduction in production workflows. Ability to operate forklifts or other material handling equipment is advantageous but not mandatory. This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to leverage their technical expertise in a collaborative environment that values precision craftsmanship and continuous learning. If you thrive on producing high-quality parts through meticulous setup processes while supporting team success—this opportunity is designed for you!
