BUILD TECHNOLOGY THAT MATTERS
Raptor Scientific's RF Systems (RFS) group specializes in radar cross section (RCS) measurements. We design and build the cutting edge electronic instrumentation used to test and map out invisible radar reflections for stealth aircraft, drones, and missiles. The parts you set up and run here hold tolerances that matter, and they become part of calibration and test systems other people rely on to know their own equipment is working correctly. This is high-mix, multi-machine work. You will run 4 to 7 axis mills and lathes, set your own tooling and fixtures, and use practical judgment when the paperwork does not spell out every detail.
THE WORK
  • Set up and run: Set up and operate 4 to 7 axis CNC mills and lathes with live milling or Y-axis capability, running multiple machines in a cell as permitted.
  • Machine to print: Read engineering drawings, process sheets, and work orders to machine forgings, castings, bar stock, and composites to required tolerances.
  • Cut it right: Perform turning, facing, boring, drilling, milling, reaming, tapping, threading, and grinding operations, applying sound feeds and speeds across materials.
  • Own the setup: Set up and indicate fixtures and tooling, gather what each job requires, and use good judgment when a process sheet leaves gaps.
  • Verify your own work: Check dimensional accuracy with calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and comparators, and apply self-quality throughout the run.
  • Improve the process: Contribute to program prove-outs and setup sheets, flag opportunities to cut cycle time, and help train and mentor other operators.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Proven experience: 3 to 5 years of CNC setup and operation experience, including 4 to 7 axis mills and lathes with live milling capability.
  • Technical fluency: Strong proficiency in G-code, M-code, and CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam or SolidWorks.
  • Controls knowledge: Familiarity with Fanuc, Haas, and Siemens controls, and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues as they come up.
  • Math and measurement: Solid trigonometry and math skills, along with proficiency using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
Education:
High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Desirable skills: 5 or more years of Mastercam programming experience on 4 to 7 axis equipment, dual-spindle machine experience, or exposure to pneumatic tubing and pressure systems is a plus.
